Somalia and UK Strengthen Bilateral Relations: Speaker Madobe Meets Ambassador Charles King






 Mogadishu, Somalia – September 28, 2025:

The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), today held a high-level meeting with the UK Ambassador to Somalia, Charles King, at his office in Mogadishu.


The discussions centered on enhancing diplomatic relations and strengthening cooperation between Somalia and the United Kingdom. Ambassador King appreciated the Speaker’s leadership and reiterated the UK’s commitment to supporting Somalia in governance reforms, security stabilization, and development initiatives.


In response, Speaker Madobe expressed deep gratitude to the Government and people of the United Kingdom for their continuous support in state-building, peacebuilding, and institutional development. He also briefed the Ambassador on the Parliament’s upcoming agenda, highlighting the review and completion of Somalia’s Provisional Constitution.


The Speaker further underlined the Somali government’s determination to hold one-person, one-vote elections, a historic step aimed at restoring the constitutional right of Somali citizens to directly elect their leaders.


This meeting marks another milestone in strengthening Somalia–UK relations and reaffirms the shared commitment to building a peaceful, democratic, and prosperous Somalia.
