Sweden’s Defence Minister Visits Somalia to Strengthen Bilateral Security Cooperation
The Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Sweden, Mr. Pål Jonson, has arrived in Mogadishu on an official visit. He was warmly received at Aden Adde International Airport by the State Minister of Defence of Somalia, Mr. Omar Ali Abdi, and the Deputy Chief of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Maday Nurey Ufurow.
During his stay in Mogadishu, Minister Pål Jonson will hold high-level meetings with Somali government officials, including the Minister of Defence, Mr. Ahmed Moalim Fiqi. The discussions will focus on enhancing defence and security cooperation between Somalia and Sweden, particularly in areas of capacity building, training, and regional stability.
This visit marks a significant step in strengthening Somalia–Sweden relations and underlines Sweden’s ongoing support for peace, security, and institutional development in Somalia.
