SODMA Strengthens Collaboration with NGOs in Somalia

The Director of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA), Mr. Mahmoud Macalin Abdulle, held an important meeting with senior leaders of the Somalia NGO Consortium.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between SODMA and NGOs to coordinate humanitarian relief efforts across Somalia. The discussion centered around three key points:

1. Disaster Management Policy Development: It was agreed to improve the National Disaster Management Policy to address coordination challenges that sometimes hinder relief efforts.

2. Information Hub: Plans were made to establish a centralized hub to collect data on humanitarian activities and to create a map showing where NGOs operate. This will enhance coordination and aid planning.

3. Regular Meetings: It was agreed to hold regular high-level meetings between SODMA and NGO leaders in the country to continue strengthening collaboration

In conclusion, Mr. Mahmoud Macalin Abdulle emphasized that this meeting is essential for advancing the Disaster Management Policy and reducing challenges in coordinating relief efforts. It lays the foundation for more effective, efficient, and impactful humanitarian responses for the Somali population.
