Somali National Army and SoDMA Strengthen Cooperation on Liberation and Humanitarian Efforts

The Chief of the Somali National Army (SNA), General Odowaa Yusuf Raage, held a key meeting with the Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mahmoud Macalin Abdulle, to discuss the current climate situation and the ongoing military operations aimed at liberating areas under the control of Al-Shabaab.

During the discussions, both officials emphasized the critical role of SoDMA in delivering humanitarian relief to communities in newly liberated areas. It was agreed that SoDMA will take the lead in coordinating urgent humanitarian responses, ensuring that affected populations receive immediate assistance.

To strengthen collaboration, the two sides decided to form a joint technical committee representing both the SNA and SoDMA. This committee will closely coordinate on the implementation of humanitarian support plans, ensuring that military gains are matched with timely humanitarian interventions.

This partnership reflects the government’s broader strategy of linking security operations with humanitarian relief, thereby promoting both stability and resilience in liberated communities
