The new Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Dagvin R.M. Anderson

, in an interview with Somali National Television, stated that he chose Somalia as his first destination since taking command, highlighting the country’s strategic importance in the Horn of Africa.

General Anderson emphasized that Somalia holds great opportunities despite facing serious challenges from terrorism. He noted that his visit aims to assess the regional situation as the new AFRICOM Commander. Anderson also recalled his previous experience in Africa, having served as the Commander of the Special Operations unit on the continent
