Trump Pressures Gulf States to Fund Gaza Reconstruction Worth $70 Billion
According to a Bloomberg report, former U.S. President Donald Trump is pressuring Gulf countries — namely Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar — to finance a $70 billion Gaza reconstruction plan.
However, all three nations are hesitant, demanding security and political guarantees to ensure the war does not reignite and that they have a say in Gaza’s future administration.
Bloomberg detailed the conditions set by each country:
Saudi Arabia is facing budgetary pressure due to declining oil prices and is reluctant to provide unconditional funding.
The United Arab Emirates insists on clear political guarantees, including the disarmament of Hamas and reforms within the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank.
Qatar seeks assurances that Israel will honor a future peace agreement, while also wanting a visible political role in Gaza’s post-war administration.
This proposed reconstruction project would be one of the largest ever in Gaza, but political divisions and security uncertainties continue to pose significant challenges.
