Somalia is taking bold steps toward progress and international cooperation! On December 3, 2025, Minister of Information, Culture & Tourism, Daud Aweys Jama, met with EU Ambassador Francesca Di Mauro in Mogadishu. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in media, culture, tourism, and youth innovation—key pillars for Somalia’s sustainable development.

Minister Daud expressed gratitude for the EU’s ongoing support in media empowerment, youth creativity programs, anti-trafficking initiatives, and combating misinformation and extremism. Both sides emphasized the importance of community awareness campaigns, particularly in areas related to security, elections, and social cohesion.

Ambassador Francesca highlighted the EU’s commitment to Somalia’s recovery and emphasized that supporting media freedom, cultural programs, and tourism is vital for long-term growth.

The Somali Ministry reiterated its dedication to expand cooperation with the EU, enhance journalists’ skills, protect press freedom, and promote cultural and tourism initiatives that empower the youth and strengthen the nation’s global presence.

This partnership marks a promising step for Somalia, proving that international collaboration can create tangible results in building a safer, more informed, and culturally vibrant society.
