Somali National Army Foils Major Terrorist Attack in Kudhaa, Lower Juba

 

The Somali National Army (SNA), particularly the elite Danab Commandos, in coordination with Jubbaland Security Forces and supported by international partners, has successfully concluded a major security operation in the town of Kudhaa, located in the Lower Juba region.

The operation, which lasted more than 24 hours, was launched following a terrorist attack carried out by Al-Shabaab militants. Somali forces engaged the attackers in direct combat, demonstrating strong coordination, bravery, and operational readiness.

According to official sources, more than 130 militants were killed during the clashes, while several others were injured. Security forces also seized combat vehicles and weapons abandoned by the fleeing militants.

Following the operation, Kudhaa town and its surrounding areas are now fully under the control of the Somali National Army and Jubbaland Security Forces. Troops remain on high alert to prevent any further security threats.

The Ministry of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia and the SNA Command praised the courage and cooperation displayed by all participating forces, reaffirming that operations against terrorism will continue until lasting peace and stability are achieved across the country.
