Trump’s Nobel Frustration and Greenland Ambitions
Former U.S. President Donald Trump sent a sharply worded letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, expressing his displeasure over not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump claimed the decision was unfair, citing that he had ended eight wars that could have impacted global peace.
He also tied the Nobel decision to his interest in Greenland, suggesting that Denmark cannot defend the island against Russia or China and questioning their sovereignty claims. Trump emphasized that the U.S. has contributed more to NATO than any other country and argued that global security depends on America gaining full control over Greenland.
Excerpt from Trump’s letter:
“Since your country decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize, even though I stopped eight wars and more, I no longer feel obligated to personally think about peace, although it will remain a priority. I can now focus on what is right for the United States.”
“Denmark cannot defend Greenland from Russia or China, so why do they have ownership? There is no written document; the only evidence is ships visited hundreds of years ago, and we also sent ships.”
“I have given NATO more than anyone since its founding, yet NATO must serve America. The world will not be safe until the U.S. fully secures Greenland.
