Historic Abu Dhabi Talks: 314 Prisoners to be Exchanged by US, Ukraine, and Russia
A major diplomatic breakthrough has emerged from Abu Dhabi, where delegations from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia reached an agreement to exchange 314 prisoners following detailed peace talks hosted by the United Arab Emirates on February 5, 2026.
The first exchange of its kind in five months, the deal was confirmed by Steve Witkoff, Trump’s envoy and a key participant in the negotiations. Witkoff described the discussions as “detailed and productive”, emphasizing that while significant challenges remain, the agreement demonstrates that sustained diplomatic engagement delivers tangible results.
He added that talks will continue in the coming weeks, with expectations of further progress, and expressed his gratitude to the UAE for hosting the negotiations, as well as to President Trump, whose leadership helped make the agreement possible.
This prisoner exchange represents a critical step toward stability and highlights how diplomacy, even in the most complex conflicts, can achieve measurable outcomes.
